Govern for America (GFA) is proud to introduce our fifth cohort via monthly spotlights. Each of our Fellows brings their unique insights and experiences into government positions to create a more responsive government that better reflects and serves our communities.

Jordan Ta is a Budget and Policy Analyst at The Colorado Governor’s Office of State Planning and Budgeting.

About Jordan:

I am a pretty laid back person who enjoys going on hikes, watching movies, and playing all types of games. My favorite pasttime is playing Magic the Gathering, but I also greatly enjoy hanging out and getting to know other people. In my role as a Budget and Policy Analyst at The Colorado Governor’s Office of State Planning and Budgeting, I work with emergency funds to ensure that during or after any public health crisis or disaster, organizations have the funds needed to serve the community and that the information can be portrayed to stakeholders in an accessible way.

Q&A:

Why did you choose GFA?

GFA represents an opportunity to come into a space that needs more youth representation. Through that, I hope to create a fulfilling career creating connections with others who want to improve the function of government to serve the people.

What does public service mean to you?

Public service is improving the communities you exist in to accommodate those who would like to join and better the lives of those already in it to make our democracy as beneficial to all as possible.

What led you to work in government?

I prefer my work to have an impact that I can track and see to feel a sense of accomplishment. Working for the government provides access to this, the ability to positively impact my community, and many interesting problems that can be solved.

What are you most excited about with your first year in government?

I am excited to learn more about a different state’s governmental process and norms compared to California, where I am from, which is generally more solidly blue.
